The Ultimate Guide to Eyelash Extensions: Everything You Need to Know
Lash extensions have become a popular way to enhance natural beauty without the need for daily mascara application. Whether you're seeking a subtle enhancement or dramatic volume, lash extensions can be customized to suit your desired look.
All About Lash Extensions
Materials: What are your Lashes Made of?
Lash extensions are typically made from synthetic fibers, silk, or mink fur. Each material offers a different look and feel, with mink (fur from the tails of minks) being the most natural and luxurious option.
Synthetic Fibers
are the most frequently used lash extensions. They mimic real mink lashes while being cruelty free and less costly. They are made to be uniform and can create a seamless look
Silk
is another option. However, the curls of these lashes tend to be less uniform.
Mink Lashes
come straight and clients are required to curl their lashes at home. They are also quite expensive ranging from $300-$500 for a full set. They give great retention but require more maintenance from the client.
Types: Choosing Your Volume
The main types of lash extensions are Classic, Hybrid, and Volume and Mega Volume. These are what you would usually see on a lash service menu.
Classic Lashes
involve attaching one extension to each natural lash. Each natural lash gets its own extension, enhancing what you’ve naturally got without adding extra volume.
Hybrid Lashes
combine the Classic technique with the Volume Fanning technique for a fuller appearance.
Volume Lashes
involve applying multiple thin lashes, in the form of a fan, to each natural lash for a dramatic effect. The fans used in a volume set usually contains 2-7* lash extensions fibers.
Mega Volume Lashes
is similar to volume lashes with the only difference being the fans used. They contain 8+* lash extensions fibers.
*these numbers can change depending on the diameter of the lashes your lash artists are using.
Shapes and Textures
Lash Extensions come with a variety of different lengths, diameters and curls.
Length
Extensions can range from short to long, depending on the desired effect and the health of your natural lashes.
Diameter
The thickness of the extensions can vary, with thinner lashes used for a more natural look and thicker lashes for added drama.
Curl
Lash extensions come in various curls, from a gentle J-curl to a more dramatic D-curl, allowing for customization based on your eye shape and desired style.
A skilled lash artist is able to utilize these different lash extensions to create a unique lash set for your eyes!
The Application Process
The process of applying lash extensions requires precision:
01. Consultation
Your lash artist will discuss your desired look and assess your natural lashes.
02. Preparation
Your lashes are cleaned, and a protective pad is placed under your eyes to protect your bottom lashes.
03. Application
Using tweezers, the lash artist carefully applies an extension to each natural lash with a semi-permanent adhesive.
04. Drying
After all extensions are applied, they're allowed to dry and set.

Avoid heat in the first 24-48 hours. (No saunas, tanning beds or even a hot shower)
Use oil-free products around your eyes.
